2017 West Georgia Tech #JucoReportPreview

Editors Note: Our #JucoReportPreview series takes a look at numerous Junior College programs that are participating in our #JucoReport Jamboree Series that includes both the Battle of the South Jamboree on October 7th, the CBHoops Juco Jam South October 14th, and  Juco Jam Atlanta October 21st. All Players Highlight in Blue below link to their #JucoReportCard.

Top Returning Players

6’7 – Antonio Smith– F- had a good freshman season in ’15-16, averaging 5 points and 5 rebounds a game, while shooting 52% from the floor.  Has taken a major step up over the last year, and is on track for a huge season.  Can score with his back to the basket, and knock down the perimeter jump shot.  Long, athletic frame, is a next level offensive rebounder.

6’4 – Joe Boyer– SG/SF– averaged 19.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists per game last season.  Aggressive all-around scorer.  Great mid range game, and attacks the basket well (6.5 FTA per game last season).  Takes pride in both ends of the floor and can defend multiple positions.

6’2 – Chris Haye– SG- Had a tremendous start to the season last year, averaging almost 16 points per game off the bench before an injury cost him the season.  One of best slashers  we’ve had, sprints for easy baskets on every change of possession.  High character kid, was granted a medical redshirt for last season.

6’0 – San Rozier-  PG- Started every game last year, averaging 8.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists.  Kind of player that will be the glue to any team.  Pass first point guard with a true winning mentality.  Has improved his perimeter offensive game over the summer, and brings a high IQ to the defensive end.

6’0 – Dennis Wilkins– PG- spark off the bench offensively and defensively last year, averaged just over 7 points a game.  Has really improved his overall game, and is showing in the preseason that he’s poised to take a big leap this year.

Top Incoming Players

6’5 – Isaiah Greer- G/F- Has ability to score in a multitude of ways.  Can hit the 3, get to the basket, and is an effective mid range post player.  Has the mindset and athletic ability to be one of best defenders on the floor.

6’5 – Jacob Ali– F- Strong framed player, who is solid with the ball and has terrific court vision.  Gets easy baskets with his back to the basket, and can knock down perimeter shots.  Creates a lot of contact and finishes well through it.

6’4 – Noah Thomas– F- Strong willed player who can defend any position.  Is steadily improving his overall offensive game in the preseason, and will be a player that will continue to climb as the season progresses

6’3 – Devante Garside– G/F- High level athlete, who has the ability to be the best defender on the floor at any time.   Has an aggressive mentality with the ball, and attacks the basket every possession.   With an improvement to his overall range, will be a high level asset on the next level. 

6’2 – Jordan Brown– G- High energy player who never gets tired.  Very explosive with the ball, attacks the basket with ease, and counters well with the mid range pull up.  Another highly competitive kid, who takes pride in winning every second of every practice.

6’1 – Rodney Thomas– PG- Great range and shot making ability.  Kind of player you can rest on for any amount of time, or he’ll take advantage of it.  Very coachable, will compete against anybody on the floor on both ends.

6’1 – Chris Freeman– G-  Perimeter threat, who is a knock down three point shooter, and also very effective off the one or two dribble pull up jumper.
